Unlike some of the German brands (which have multiple SUV and crossover lines, as well as “coupe” variants of said vehicles), Cadillac has two: the truck-framed Escalade in short and long-wheelbase variants and the (formerly) SRX midsize two-row crossover. Regime change doesn’t have to be bloody. Sometimes, the weight of new ideas alone is sufficient to push out the lingering elements of old-school thinking, creating a void where innovation floods in to fill the vacuum with a renewed sense of purpose. The current 2016 Cadillac SRX has long been the brand’s best-selling model, and sales of the luxury crossover remain relatively strong; year-to-date sales are up 25 percent. Not bad considering the SRX first went on sale back in 2009. The 2017 Cadillac Cadillac has teamed up with Public School New York, a clothing fashion company, to premiere the new XT5 crossover, which will replace the SRX. So far there’s not much else to go on for specs or details. The new crossover is expected to drop at the Dubai the model such a thorough rework for 2017 that they’ve given it a new name, one which is part of the new “XT” nomenclature that will grace the tailgates of other upcoming Cadillac crossovers as well.
